The Akshay Kumar starrer, Padman, was based on the need to make feminine hygiene products more accessible to women in India. The campaign around the film, however, made waves because of the way it normalised a conversation that was otherwise considered uncomfortable in most conservative societies. With celebrities like Madhuri Dixit, Anil Kapoor an even Katrina Kaif posting pictures with a sanitary napkin, the Padman Challenge was a viral success.
